Dragons and Kung Fu arts are always synonymous to ancient China. As the title goes, 9 dragons online is a MMORPG in the confines of ancient China. In this game, combat is based on Kung Fu. You must train to gain skills in order to become a powerful warrior.

Like most fantasy game nowadays, they all look the same. 9Dragons is one of those traditional fantasy games but with added new characteristics to make it different from other traditional MMORPGs. It was first made by a Korean Company but was later sold to Acclaim.

The American company then introduced the game to the North American and European main stream. The original story was then further improved by Acclaim. What makes 9Dragons different is that the way you gain levels, skills get enhanced as it is used, and many more.

In creating characters, you will have to select which location you would like your warrior to come from. There are 6 choices, in 2 different clans to choose from. Forming the white clans are the Shaolin, Wu Tang, and The League of Beggars.

The Black Clans are the following: Sacred Flower, Heavenly Demon, and The Brotherhood of Thieves. In each of the clans, weapons and fighting styles are different. When you reach level 25, you are now allowed to choose your class. There are four basic classes with names different among each of the clans. You can choose to become a warrior, strategist, Chi Kung Artist, or a Holist.

When you start the game, an optional tutorial phase usually comes out. If you have no idea about the game yet, it would be wise to go through the tutorial phase. It might irritate you as it is tedious but it is the only way for you to get a grip of the game. From equipping to meditation with basic mouse skills are taught in the tutorial.

As it is set in ancient China, Kung Fu as a way of combat is the way to upgrade levels. There are some quests that may seem not important in terms of your characters improvement but it can be a nice experience to make you more familiar with the movements.

This game will not give your mouse a hard time. You can just relax while your character does the attacks. Upon learning the skill, level is also increased. It is somewhat unusual that levels are increased based on skills unlike the other MMORPGs. Levels are divided into Chengs and stat points are called chi points.

Weapons are divided into 10 types. You can master the weapon based on the clan and class you belong. You can change your characters job once you have reached level 25. The game’s graphics is of medium quality. Resolution options are not available. Game characters such as the monsters look the same. However, when you are in town, things look much better.

PvP is clan based. White clans are the pro-Emperors while the Black clans are anti-Emperors. PvP wins/loses can be kept track by a player. However, some players may find it difficult to engage in combat as there are some of the characters who are simply overpowered such as the Nukers.

This game may be somewhat poor in graphics and PvP is not like the ideal thing that we imagined but it is still a good game. Combats and the one of a kind skill progression is what set this game apart from other traditional 3D fantasy MMORPGs.
