The hugely popular shooting games from Sierra Half-life and Counterstrike has spawned quite a number of games. Crossfire is slated to be one of those First Person shooters that will have you locked on to those corners and shooting behind your desktop.

Good Vs Evil
Enter the basic plot, you are given the choice of playing either the Black List or Global Risk Team. These are two mercenary companies bent on two different ideologies. Black List, the darker of the two is a secret organization that commits terrorist acts for money mostly in the developing world.
Global Risk on the other hand is a team organized by former SAS officer Sir Alex Roid. The company follows the footsteps of a secret UN-sponsored mercenary unit whose main goal is to subvert Black List activities.
Gameplay
New players start with a basic set composed of a pistol, grenade and knife. Controls are standard FPS but allows for a more flexible way of customizing. A tutorial mode is available to get your sights ready before soaking your feet in the blood drenched world.
Going thru the ranks means piling up experience points by pawning enemies on the battlefield. Rising thru the ranks requires constant gameplay as your character moves to the more prestigious officer levels.
There is a wide variety of weapons available throughout the game. Accesses to some weapons are locked to higher levels however. You start with the basic P90 and more exotic gears like the SCAR and SIG 552 could only be grabbed as you go thru the ranks.
Game modes
There are different game modes available, Search and Destroy, Elimination, Team Deathmatch, Ghost, Free for All, and Special mode. Standard FPS mode requires you to eradicate the enemy. Free for All is standard shoot everything that moves mode.
Ghost mode adds a unique flavor to gameplay as Black List players comes equipped bombs and knives to attack designated targets. These will not easy pickings for Global Risk teams as the Black List operatives will be armed with cloaking devices.
Crossfire features over a dozen locations for mayhem. Locations vary from submarine yards to more exotic locations like Mexican towns. Attention to detail is evident as one special map like the Nazi themed Hakenkreuz map boasts of Swastika lights.
