DDO Officially Joins The Free MMORPG Industry

Although the announcement was made months ago, Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO) Eberron Unlimited has now officially became a free MMO with unlimited free play. Without question, DDO is the biggest newcomer since Free Realms was launched in the Spring. While many games in the industry tend to have similar graphics and features, DDO is a different breed.

When the game charged a fee, it was a disappointment to those players who sought a World of Warcraft type of experience in a D&D themed world. As a Free MMORPG, DDO: Eberron Unlimited  could easily become a leader in its first few months. The game’s website has already experienced server problems on its first day without fees because of the higher-than-expected demand.

Why is DDO special? Let’s count the ways.

1. For starters, the game is based on a proven fantasy franchise. Yes, the movies were crummy but D&D is much more than movies.

2. Characters can multiclass.

3. Has a better combat system than most free MMOs.

4. Stories in the game are actually interesting.

5. Great 3D graphics. D&D has come a long way from just pen and paper.

6. Socially oriented to help players find groups

7. Can hire NPCs instead of being solely dependent on other players when needed.

8. Modules add hearty helpings of new content to keep the game interesting.
