Exodus Review

MMORPG games are popping up everywhere and many are aiming to copy the big ones, like WOW or RuneScape. However one MMORPG called Exodus 3000 is unique in more than one way, yet is hardly known by fans of role playing games.

To get an idea better of what I mean, we’ll start with the basics. Exodus 3000(which was started in 2006) takes place on Mars 1000 years into the future after Earth was deemed uninhabitable due to a catastrophic event. The people who happen to survive through the event, move to Mars in hopes of starting over. Each player has a homestead where they reside and live, but much like when people start over-they have to venture out for work and money. So each player goes out around on the planet in search of volcano’s to mine minerals from and search for money in random places. The planet has 9 basic areas that you will run into as you play the game.

Volcano’s is where you mine in hopes of finding minerals to sell.
Ruins are destroyed homesteads or settlements that you can explore in hopes to find something of value.
Outpost is where you buy defense items.
Abandon homesteads are homesteads that no longer have people living in them, you can also explore these in homes of finding valuable items.
Craters in which some you can explore and others you cannot.
Plains and dunes are just areas you must pass through without offering anything.
Settlements are tiny cities that have high defense levels and you can attack to get valuable items.
Stores are their newest feature where you can buy cards that allow you to upgrade.

I should also say that you can buy a membership for a small fee that allows you have more features. It is nice, but you can still enjoy the game.

Now for the real neat element of the game is that you earn Mar’s dollars in the game, if you get a “cashout” card and have over $1,000,000.00 MD-you can then convert the MD to real money to be paid out via paypal. They also have contest going on where you can win prizes via playing Exodus.

But now back to the game play, while the game isn’t fancy in graphics nor game play- it is still loads of fun. You can interact with other players via the chat feature in the game play window. It’s pretty simple and basic in how to play, you have 4 arrows you can click on pointing North, East, West and South. You click on the arrows to go and explore in that direction. However you are only allows so many moves per day.

One more nice thing about the game is that it is browser based, meaning that you do not have to worry about have fancy PC requirements. Also it is free to play for the most part. And is a great game for hardcore games, but also causal gamers alike.

If I was to rank this is from a 1 to 10(with 10 being the best)scale, I would place this as a 8.5.
