This is the story of two nations, once powerful allies now torn apart by war and mistrust of each other. After battling for years with no side getting the upper hand, a ceasefire was agreed where the two warring nations prepared for a war to end all wars.

Valorian, a nation who places its hope on the skills of their warrior army is pitted against the magical nation of Derion. The land is marred by endless battles between the warriors of each nation hoping to pound each other into submission. The struggle for territory is put into the forefront as each nation tries to gain control over valuable resources thru daily Territorial Occupation wars.

Starting out the Game

Each new citizen is put into their paces in the early part of the game. The first levels introduce players to the game’s basic elements. Fighting, crafting, potions and basic questing are just some of the valuable skills you can pick up.

Crafting plays a vital role in giving you that much needed edge in coming on top of your opponent. Upgrading your weapons and armor can be done thru the game’s upgrading system. This gives ordinary weapons and armor magical attributes which can enhance or lessen magical damage inflicted upon them.

The Gates of Andaron’s main focus is on PvP. This aspect of the game is introduced when players reach level 11. Fighting is not limited to one on one fighting but also comes in different flavors like the daily Territorial Occupation wars and Mission Maps for example.

Mission Maps have a unique flavor to its own. These battles place warriors of the two nations against each other by placing different objectives before them. Mission Maps are more free flowing as these could be played almost anywhere. One tem is tasked with accomplishing a specific objective and the opposing team tries to stop the other team from achieving them.

Territory Occupations gives guilds the option of capturing a specific territory or castle. Gaining control over them gives them access to special gears and allows them to tax players in the area. Gamers who are tired of the constant grinding will find that PvP’s give better XP making leveling up a whole lot easier.

Characters

Choosing which side to play for is the first step in determining your journey into the game. There are three races that players can choose from, Human, Neved and Mirhur. After determining your race you are given the choice of 6 classes; warriors, archers, magicians, night walkers, evocators and priests.

Your weapon of choice is a decision which is left best to what type of character you wish to use in your journey. The game gives you a good mixture of all the different aspects which make an MMORPG really special. A good storyline, PvPs and Quests can help gamers burning that midnight oil.

The Story

One of the quests requires you to gather a group of 12 warriors that can be distinguished by the zodiac signs in their body. Other interesting twists with the game include quests where you require the services of the local people in accomplishing your objective.

It may not be as fast compared to gathering items manually. It does however free you from the shackles of your computer.

At first glance, Wonderland Online might appear to be another run of the mill MMORPG but a closer look would reveal that along with the usual features comes an option that lets you enjoy it while attending to other commitments.

RF stands for Rising Force. It is a 3D Sci Fi MMORPG that is set in a futuristic world in the planet of novus wherein there are 3 parties: Accretian Empire, Bellato Federation, and the Alliance of Cora, all of which are fighting to control the natural resources of the universe.

It has great music in it, skill system is different, economy is controlled by a large player, graphics are of high quality, and there is a goof tutorial phase. However, combats are repetitive and sometimes it is very difficult to beat monsters even when you are still new to the game.

Creating characters are simple enough. Just choose your party and groom your character. Classes are divided into four namely: Warriors, Rangers, Specialist, and Spiritualist. Warriors can take more damage; rangers needs distance for effective combat; specialists can uses different weapons but are weaker unlike the warriors; and spiritualists uses force or magic to cast spells in combat. The Cora Alliance are more of spiritualists while the Accretians are more on being warriors. The Bellato federation specializes in mechs for battle.

RF online is properly innovated in terms of the skill system. You gain skills points when you upgrade level. Skills will make you gain experience and level up. The skills can go up in certain number of times becoming more effective in combat. The mechanics of the game are simply interesting and there are many quests to be accomplished.

The weapons, even at the start of the game are just overwhelming. The essence of challenge that you will have to gain this skill before you can have this weapon is just missing. So, even if your character is still weak, you can use powerful weapons. The idea of improving your character is just simply useless if you are already equipped with high calibre weapons.

There is the contribution points feature wherein the player with the most contribution points gets to lead the party they belong to. They can be achieved through the quests or PvP combats. Also, when you reach level 30 and level 40, your character can advance to a new class. The music imbedded is just unremarkable. Unlike other games which have music that are not really what you call connected to the game, RF online does have the appropriate music in it.

RF online charaters are somewhat mixed up. In combat, you get to fight monsters that are way beyond your skill level even when you are just starting the game. Maybe this explains why you are given the option to choose powerful weapons in the beginning to beat these monsters. It may make the game unique on its own but it just does not make sense why it has to be the other way around. Maybe we were just used to the traditional newbie needs weak weapons to fight weak monsters. However, in this game, monsters tend to be stronger making it difficult to defeat.

Overall, RF online is a great MMORPG. High quality image and with a good user interface makes it stand out making it par to its Sci Fi setting. The weapons and the distribution of characters are just somewhat weird though.

In creating characters, you will have to select which location you would like your warrior to come from. There are 6 choices, in 2 different clans to choose from. Forming the white clans are the Shaolin, Wu Tang, and The League of Beggars.

The Black Clans are the following: Sacred Flower, Heavenly Demon, and The Brotherhood of Thieves. In each of the clans, weapons and fighting styles are different. When you reach level 25, you are now allowed to choose your class. There are four basic classes with names different among each of the clans. You can choose to become a warrior, strategist, Chi Kung Artist, or a Holist.

When you start the game, an optional tutorial phase usually comes out. If you have no idea about the game yet, it would be wise to go through the tutorial phase. It might irritate you as it is tedious but it is the only way for you to get a grip of the game. From equipping to meditation with basic mouse skills are taught in the tutorial.

As it is set in ancient China, Kung Fu as a way of combat is the way to upgrade levels. There are some quests that may seem not important in terms of your characters improvement but it can be a nice experience to make you more familiar with the movements.

This game will not give your mouse a hard time. You can just relax while your character does the attacks. Upon learning the skill, level is also increased. It is somewhat unusual that levels are increased based on skills unlike the other MMORPGs. Levels are divided into Chengs and stat points are called chi points.

Weapons are divided into 10 types. You can master the weapon based on the clan and class you belong. You can change your characters job once you have reached level 25. The game’s graphics is of medium quality. Resolution options are not available. Game characters such as the monsters look the same. However, when you are in town, things look much better.

PvP is clan based. White clans are the pro-Emperors while the Black clans are anti-Emperors. PvP wins/loses can be kept track by a player. However, some players may find it difficult to engage in combat as there are some of the characters who are simply overpowered such as the Nukers.

The dungeon siege system is what makes Rappelz interesting. Owning dungeons enables to collect money and Lak taxes from raiders. Guilds are formed in order to own a dungeon. The guild having the fastest completion time attack raid gets to own the dungeon.

You have the option to become a Hunter, Thief, or a Trader. If you opt to become a hunter, you must protect the traders from the thieves. If you become a trader, you will be travelling into other towns for money. The thieves gain money by killing hunters and traders. Looking for variations as the game progresses is a disappointment as these roles will get boring later on. There are no special quests, no special jobs, or no special places to explore.
