Dragonica Medals & Achievements
The medals AP can range from 100 - 3000 (and more), well at least the ones I had taken note of give out that much. As a general rule of thumb, Regular medals, e.g. (Take It Like a Rookie) give out 100 AP, Advanced ones 200 AP, Special Medals such as Early Bird may give you 800 AP, Artifact (Celebrity of the Town) 3000 AP, Legend medals should give more than 3000 AP, but I have no idea. I can't prove this is definitive though, which I'll explain more.
There are five types of Medals, Regular, Advanced, Special, Artifact and Legend. Assuming your points are maxed out, and that same type of medals give out same amount of points, regardless of category, then the number can’t ever add up. Let me elaborate, to make things clearer;
Under the World category, I only have four medals left to do. These medals are Lavalon
Dungeon Expert, Popular, Celebrity and Superstar. My AP for that category is just 5200 and characters tally is 30200, and the remaining medals are one Special, and three Regular ones. If I based the AP on type of medal, I only stand to gain another 500 AP more. Another reason to dispel type of Medal to fixed AP theory is based on the Mission category.
Under Mission (which is 49300 AP (50400 AP since the 1.7.10 Patch) there are 11 Regular Medals, Six Advanced ones, 18 Specials and eight Artifacts. If indeed the same type of Medals give out a specific AP (assuming Regular (100), Advanced (200), Special (800), Artifact (3000), I can only get a total of 40700 AP only. And I remember getting funny numbers like 3200 AP for some quests, yet I can't for the life of me remember what quest it was. This is why I need confirmation. I believe this will help others to hit the magical 70000 AP mark, mine is 70000 on the dot, by the way.
But generally, the five types of medals will give out AP as such;
1. Regular 100 (maybe higher)
2. Advanced 200 (maybe higher)
3. Special 800 - 1200 (maybe higher)
4. Artifact 3000 - 3200 (maybe higher)
5. Legend 6000 – 9000
Note:
i. Mission Medals can't be shared sadly, you'll have to do it alone, or as leader and kill the boss (get last hit). Not entirely true also. Bubo runs won't even allow anybody to even hit the boss, the count will not go up. AFAIK, only Bubo exhibits this behaviour. Doing F6 allows you to get two kills per run.
P/S:
i. Some medals while requiring a specific number, such as the AAAA Medal 10,000 combo may not register an achieved task even if you've hit the required mark. DO NOT STOP doing it till you get the medal pop up. Some players reported not getting their AAAA Medals even after hitting 10,000 hits, so play it safe and keep hitting till you get the medal.
ADDED INFO:
What is AP?
AP or Achievement Points is what you get for completing tasks in the world of Dragonica. When you complete a specific task, you get a 'Medal', and with it a certain amount of AP. Such task could be as simply as dashing 300 times and for merely doing that you'll get a Sprinter Medal, and 100 AP. Whatever accomplished tasks you've achieved (marked as Obtained) can be found inside your Journal (Press button J in-game, and click on the Medals tab).
So what's the big fuss over the Medals you might ask? Well, I can think of two reasons, the first being, some medals have good stat bonuses. Some may think it's a waste of time getting those medals, but a simple medal, Lumberjack grants +2 VIT, which may not be much, but at a lower level, 2 VIT may make a subtle difference. A favorite and often equipped medal is The Last Boyscout, and with its bonuses, it's no wonder why really. ATK Speed +12%, STR, INT, VIT, AGI is boosted by 20, and both MP Regeneration Rate and your DEF are boosted by 15%.
More info about the achievable medals are listed in the Journal by category, just hover over the medal with your mouse cursor. What's not said is how to equip the medals, Double clicking works, or a single click, then another on Equip medal, but that's intuitive. It's the same for equipping most equipment in the game, double click for equip, and right click to unequip.
The other reason is, the 3rd Class Promotion Quest for the 4th Job. The quest to unlock the 4th Job Change is started by this quest, and it's unique in the sense that you're allowed two routes to complete this quest. One is via PvP (for 3,000 CP) and Battle Square (for 10 Sign of Heroes), the other is with 70,000 AP and 250 Devil Soul Stones. Without enough AP, you can't complete the quest, and unlock the series of quests that allows you to enter Van Cliff Citadel, and eventually kill Shiva for the 4th Job requirement. Your AP is listed when you open your Journal and by clicking on Ranking (lower group of tabs on the right side). Some may take the PvP route, it's easier to just buy the Sign of Heroes, and try to get 3,000 CP, but still some amount of work. The AP route is easier, just mundane and mind numbingly boring, but the medals gained are worth the efforts IMHO, but that's just me. It really is dependent on the individual, some just don't like PvP or just bad at PvP.
Note:
i. Chatterbox, NPCs you've spoken to, can't be talked to again. But then again, on a new char I just kept on Talking till I gained the medal. In other words, it will only go up if you see an NPC with the Talk option. How and why the Talk option goes missing (especially for older and higher level characters), I can't figure out why. yizhimei says the fastest way to achieve, find any npc and press space bar. If you can see the 'talk' option, just left click to select it and quickly press 'Esc' button on the keyboard to cancel dialouge. Repeat this quick 3 steps process (space bar, left click, Esc) to get the medal in a matter of minutes at most.
