Allods Online

Allods Online is published by gPotato. Allods plays very similar in many respects to the most popular MMORPG, World of Warcraft. It has very similar character classes, skills, crafting, and game design. You can choose from two different sides, the League and the Empire, similar to WoW. Though it is very similar to WoW in many ways, it also has worked to refine many aspects of gameplay as well as add more features, making the game even more enjoyable.

From the start, the character customization has the look of WoW. Allods character customization is fairly detailed though there are currently just 6 races, 3 on each side. The classes of each are also very similar to WoW though Allods has put their own twist on some of the classes. The models are different and look cleaner and realistic than cartoony. The gameplay is pretty simple and follows the same layout as most MMORPGs.

One of Allods strengths is their questing system. Allods has many quests that include solo, group, and raid quests. It also has daily and PvP based quests. Allods also has a daily xp or fatigue system where there is a certain amount of extra xp you can earn daily. For the most part the quests are the familiar kill a number of mobs or collect so many items but there are some fun unique ones as well.

Allods also has a pretty good PvP system. It features the typical zones, arenas, and areas where a player can PvP against the opposing faction or sometimes vs their own. The most unique aspect of Allods PvP system is combat in the Astral area. In this area, players pilot their own ship and can fight mobs and players alike for loot. There is ship to ship combat where if you are victorious you can board the opposing ship and take their treasure. This adds a twist to the typical PvP combat.

Overall, Allods Online is a polished and well designed free MMORPG. It does copy World of Warcraft in many aspects but WoW does do a lot of things well and so does Allods. It has pretty good and balanced PvE and PvP content for those players that like to do both at times. Allods is worth a look at especially for those that want to play a game similar to WoW without having to pay monthly.

This is a very fun game, easy to learn and leveling is not too fast or too slow. Small maps and a feature to build ships and explore the astral or ship to ship battles. However, end game is awful. At the top lvl it is mostly PvP and unless you have several hundred dollars to spend on this “free”to-play game, you stand no chance. And endgame non PvP things, you need to be able to wait all day for a party or start setting up a raid weeks in advance.
