Game developers push the envelope further as the hugely popular Lineage franchise introduces its latest patch KAMAEL.

The KAMAEL

The latest patch offering is certainly the addition of a new race called the KAMAEL. It is rumored that they were the creations of the Giants as a weapon against the gods of Ether. Looking like fallen angels, this race supports one wing. The KAMAEL have a certain affinity for the dark arts and their struggle for perfection is reflected in their thirst for a second wing.

Being a KAMAEL warrior and the path that they take is defined by their sex. Berserkers are only open to male warriors and other classes of warriors are open only to females. New weapons also come exclusive to the new race. Finding weapons and using them is not a problem as this race possesses the ability to convert weapons to one they could use.

New Grounds

Two new maps were created for those hardcore gamers looking for that extra bit of challenge the game could offer. Forged to test even the most hardcore adventurers, new monsters will sure test the mettle of even the most seasoned veterans. Go at it alone or with your party. The latter is preferred as teams could give you a better chance of surviving the horrors of these new maps.

Hellbound is by far the hardest dungeon level in the game. Access to the dungeon could prove to be just as hard as entering it. Right of entry could be gained thru a series of quests aimed at appeasing the islands inhabitants and culminates with the killing of the monsters plaguing the island. Only after these series of tasks could a player gain entry into this dungeon.

The KAMAEL are located in “The Isle of Souls.” This could be located west of the Dark Elven Village. This is where KAMAEL soldiers forge their skills and gain experience points. These could also prove to be a nice farming ground as the island is habited by medium sized monsters.

Another new map is the Isle of Prayers. The map is inhabited by a boss monster called Baylor. Exploring this map could be tricky for a single party and like Hellbound explorations should be done with party mates as a great of re spawning is expected when you choose to hack it alone. High level monsters inhabit the map which could give high level warriors great amounts of experience points and the drops could also prove to be financially rewarding.

Castle Siege

Lineage II sports a great castle siege engine. Fortress battle is the latest team match battles where smaller clans can make their foothold to power. This is also a great way of testing strategies as small teams could play on these fortresses 24/7. Pitching your team’s skills could be great as you could continuously polish your battle plans with other teams without waiting for scheduled castle sieges.

Keeping a fortress could be rewarding and taxing. Having a fortress requires its owners to constantly defend against attack from other teams. Reputation points, exclusive items and dungeons are also available for fortress holders.

Owning a fortress requires the clan leader to make a choice between making an alliance with the clan lord, castle owner or the owner of the realm which the castle is located. The clan leader however must weigh his options carefully as this will affect the destiny of his team in the future.

Dungeons

Owning a fortress allows you to possess your own dungeon where you and your party could hunt and farm in privacy. This makes an excellent way of leveling up as you and your clan has exclusive rights to everything located in the dungeon. These dungeons could also be acquired by finishing quests to gain exclusive rights to a dungeon.

Game Additions

Aside from new maps, new monsters and a new race, the KAMAEL patch also gives the games contents an upgrade. New weapons are available for high level characters. Special sets of armor like the Dynasty Armor are also offered as reward after finishing a quest. The new set of armor is available thru the Hellbound quest and new items are spawned from these new monsters as well.

Along with the new sets of armor and weapons, new accessories are also available for buffing. Dynasty series of accessories are available for providing their owner’s effects such as poison, sleep or stun and decreased damage for magical attacks. These accessories are available thru quests located at the Isle of Prayers. Like all S-grade accessories all items must be opened with the help of the blacksmith of Mammon.

Added features include the ability to transform into much powerful characters for limited periods of time. This allows the players to gain special abilities or gain temporary boosts to their basic stats. Level caps have also been increased from 80 to 85 providing maxed out players more room for improvement. Overall, the KAMAEL patch is more than an upgrade but is an entirely new game in itself.
