Grinding Musings: Are Monsters Hollow?

So, this is probably something many people have encountered in the past. When I had heard about it I had to take a look. Hoisting my broadsword onto my back and making sure my shield was shined I headed out. The task seemed simple enough, kill a few beasties, bring back their internal organs. I needed to get kidneys for an added bonus, two per kill, should have it done in no time flat.

Well I set out on my quest. The quarry not but a few hundred yards from the hunting spot, I leaped out the distance to attack him, that’s kind of what we do in this world, we jump, really well actually. I don’t know why we ever bother walking or running when you can leap 500 yards in a single bound. Being the truly awesome hero that I am, I finished it off without any trouble. Now to claim my prize.

Wait.. It didn’t drop anything? I need livers, and I know they are in there. I look back down to see my foe had already faded away. Drat. These guys seem to decompose so fast it’s unreal. Well not to mention they seem to just kind of pop out of nowhere all the time, have I ever told you about the time I’m just sitting there in the corner of a mine healing up when suddenly two kobolds just spring out of the air and attack me? The weirdest things can happen when you are out adventuring you really have to keep your wits about you. But anyways where was I..

Oh yes, livers. I suppose I’ll need to find another creature. They usually travel in packs you know, usually in exactly the same spot all the time, very little interest in migration. I’m getting side tracked again, I swear I should have been a ranger rather than a warrior. My next foe was not too far off from where I was and made my leap into battle, it fell exactly as easily as the last one. Seriously. You normally don’t need to worry much about them once you’ve killed one, unless they happen to call each other by name or something, that seems to make them fight harder.

Once again there were no livers. I poked at the creature before he would fade away with my sword to see if I could cut it open and take a better look, and you would never guess what I saw just before he faded away, nearly the contents of an entire treasury stuffed inside of it, but I think this only brings more questions than answers, I mean, why do these beasties carry such treasures around like that?
