Rappelz Online: Grinding the Night Away

Rapplez Online is a high fantasy game created by Korean powerhouse Gala-Net and developed by G-Potato for the US and Europe. It is a Free-to-Play grinder; other offerings from Gala-Net include notable titles like Flyff and Corum.

Despite the obvious perks and strengths of the game, Rappelz is not without its flaws. Yes, the characters are wonderfully rendered, but due to the lack of further detail in the environments in the game, one begins to wonder if the snazzed up graphics solely rests on the sprites.

This part would have been good if there is a wide range of customizations in terms of looks but a change of armor is only guaranteed every few levels or so and there aren’t that many to choose from on the level you are in. one has to constantly go to the blacksmith to raise the protection rating of the same armor over and over. Varying trinkets like earrings and headgear will help in keeping the player from gagging at the monotonous sight of his sprite.

The gods believing that humans are incapable of governing the universe alone sent the Diva and Asura in fulfilling this duty. For awhile the three races co-existed in harmony and at war amongst themselves until one day a powerful Witch came and threatened all the races. Only by binding together did they vanquish their common foe. However, after years and years, signs are pointing that the enemy they once had defeated might still be alive.

Borrowed features from other MMO titles lend strength to this title. To level up your character faster, make sure you use the tent or other stamina items and log off in a town so that the next time you log in, your character will have a double XP bonus for a length of time. Another cool feature of the game is the ability of guilds to take control of a dungeon and be able to get earnings from the mobs killed by other players while adventuring inside it. This could be a neat stream of revenue for your guild.

All in all, RR is a decent game. If you are new to the MMORPG genre, this is a good game to start the ropes with. The spawn rate good and the G-Potato servers are not laggy. The community is likewise friendly to newbies- just don’t expect handouts though. On the other hand, hardcore grinders will find no fault in Rappelz Online. Aside from the boost in the graphics, there are mountains upon mountains of monsters to kill and a lot of levels to scale. However, the lack in depth of customization will not tempt players to start afresh. In the end, you with either like Rappelz on the basis that it’s a good grinder or not.
