Runes of Magic’s story begin as a book forged by the mysterious god Ayvenas. Using this book, Ayvenas crafted everything that could be found in the land of Taborea. With his limitless powers, Ayvenas power was so great that every word written on the book came into being. With the passing of time, every word and thought found in the book became reality.

Thus, the world of Taborea was born. At the beginning everything had its place and there was peace throughout the land. Ayvenas, in his boredom seeing everything was well started to foster thoughts of setting changes to this harmony. In a whimsical mood, the god forged his thoughts into reality. This simple thought brought into motion changes that will eventually sweep the world of its axis.

He immediately recanted these thoughts but alas, everything was already sought into motion. New beings were created and the delicate balance was lost. Each race then battled for supremacy, with one race bent eliminating the other.

As the changes started to destroy the world’s delicate balance, Ayvenas destroyed the book to stop other thoughts from being written on the book. The book was destroyed and its pages scattered all over the land. With no help from the gods, the world’s inhabitants were left to decide the final outcome of the story.

The world flourished until greed consumed one race. Humans in their unquenchable thirst for more power started wars in an effort to subdue everything that stood in their way. Countless wars broke out which left the world decimated.

Eventually, some humans saw the error in their ways and sought a solution to finally end this unabated destruction. They created powerful golems which served as guardians and restore balance to the world. The guardians were successful and all wars were finally quelled.

Over time these guardians eventually developed a mind of their own and sought the destruction of the human race. Seeing that the humans were the cause of all this destruction, the guardians sought the elimination of the human race as the final solution. A was again ensued with humans seeing themselves on the losing side.

From these ashes, the seeds of a new civilization were born. A new age of exploration and discovery was set into motion and the relics of the past were again brought into play.
