Sometimes it has been a problem when girlfriends or wives do not understand their better-half’s gaming passion. Admittedly, turning away from this “lifestyle” is quite difficult, thus, personal relationships get ruined in the long run. A good way to solve this dilemma is to transform your girl into your gaming partner. It may not be as easy as getting guys play video games but it is worth a try.
Gaming with your significant other
Before you go ahead with the plan, closely analyze the situation. Why do you want her to become your gaming partner? If your intention is to fix a not-so-hot relationship, then, this is probably not the solution. The best reason to influence her is to have in mind that questing together is a form of quality time. Always remember that activities that you both enjoy doing will definitely strengthen your bond.
The next important consideration is available hardware. Make sure that when you try to get her to play, she has the resources to do so. If you only have one operational set-up, you might want to buy and set one up for her. Additionally, be ready to help her create her own account. This may be simple for veteran gamers but a newbie would find this quite tedious.
At the start, encourage your partner to play simple one-player casual games such as Solitaire or Bejeweled. Leading her straight to a multiplayer environment could be complicated for a start-up gamer and could eventually discourage her. As soon as you see her getting the hang of it, introduce her to the advanced video games that you love. Get your girl to undergo a free trial of MMO games so that she would not feel pressured at all.
This is the most crucial stage as this may or may not transform her. Make sure you spend time playing with her and not against her. You may be ranks away from her, but this is not a reason to leave her out the MMO world alone. Avoid rushing or pressuring her to level up as this will cause stress and will defeat the purpose of enjoying an activity together.
Having both gaming and bonding time with your girl truly spells harmony. You may later find out that you do not have the same game preferences, but playing physically side-by-side at the same time may be enough to maintain that relationship. Who wouldn’t want a hug or a kiss in between gaming breaks?
